Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Good morning!
Another really busy week ahead as the end of term approaches.
I hope our youngest pupils have a wonderful trip to Cefn Mably today and also 5b have a great time at Mountain Ranch!
Y6 are also off to Newbridge this morning to watch their show.
Finally Y5/6 will do their final dress rehearsal for their production this afternoon and Y3/4 will be their audience!
Busy day….
Mrs Beard-Robbins
Morning all,
Lovely news ☺️☺️
We had the NSPCC in school yesterday. They did workshops with Y2, Y5 and Y6..
Following the day the 2 ladies came to see me absolutely over the moon. They said it was the best school they had ever been to.
This was for two reasons - firstly the children’s behaviour in the assembly they took was immaculate. Secondly, they were blown away by just how much our children already knew about child safely issues. I know we work so hard in school with the children on how to keep safe, where to go for help, what’s ok and what’s not etc
But to hear this from people that visit hundreds of schools made our day. They are now using our school as a good practise guide for other schools.
What a lovely outcome!

Morning all,
A parent has been in to see me this morning whose child has come out in a really nasty rash. The parent was happy for me to share this with you as it’s been diagnosed as ‘ Swimmers Itch’ and as a result of jumping into/playing in the pond at the Scenic Drive.
The mix of the very warm weather and still water is a breeding ground for these types of things. If you have older children who spend time there without supervision it might be worth having a chat about this.
Many thanks,
Mrs Beard-Robbins
Morning all,
Sports’s Day for Y3-6 will be going ahead tomorrow.
9.45 for Y5/Y6 also 5b
1.30 for Y3/4 and Class 5
Please make sure the children have cool clothes, big drinks, lots of sun tan lotion and a cap, hat or head covering.
As always, we ask parents/carers to stay the other side of the track and not to stand near the finish line.
We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow!
Mrs Beard-Robbins
Evening all,
It looks like it’s going to be exceptionally warm tomorrow.
Please make sure the children have their water bottles, lotion applied and a hat with their name inside.
Shorts and a school t shirt might be the best option too.
We will also limit the time they are outside in the middle of the day if we are worried.
Don’t forget there are no more after school clubs for the last few weeks.
Many thanks,
Mrs Beard-Robbins
Morning all,
It’s move up day! Y6 are nearly all heading straight to Newbridge today. We hope they have the best day!
The rest of the children will be going to their new classes once we’ve done registers and dinner numbers.
In September we only have 6 classes ( not including nursery or our bases).
There’s been a drop in pupil numbers due to a falling birth rate in all our local schools,
That means this year we can’t consider any moves or changes because there’s less classes and all of our classes, particularly in the Juniors are full.
We know the children will have a great day.
Many thanks,
Mrs Beard-Robbins
Mr Rajalingam will also be joining us full time in September. He will also be here tomorrow to meet his new class. Mr Raj will be teaching all of Y3 and some of Y4.
Helô pawb!
I am Mr. Rajalingam and am delighted to be your child’s teacher here at Cwmcarn Primary. I have been a teacher for about 30 years, and in that time have taught in both primary and secondary schools, and worked in other curriculum roles. My family has recently returned from Ontario in Canada and, after 20+ years there, I am learning Welsh and re-learning British English – your children might hear me call break time recess, or the toilet the washroom!
I am a dedicated teacher and love learning. I’m looking forward to working with you and your children as they continue to try new things and grow in their love of learning too.
When I’m not teaching, I love to read (science, and science fiction) and to be outside. You might find me cheering at the rugby, walking in the mountains or even skiing down them if its snowy enough.
Looking forward to meeting you all.
Hwyl fawr,
Mr Rajalingam
It's move up day tomorrow. We welcome Miss Tiley to the team in September who will be teaching all of Y2 and some of Y1. Miss Tiley will be here tomorrow to meet her new class.
Hello everyone,
I’m Miss Tiley, and I am really excited to be part of the team at Cwmcarn Primary School. I am a passionate and enthusiastic teacher who loves inspiring children to always be the best that they can be. As a teacher I would describe myself as patient, caring, and dedicated to helping every child grow and succeed. I am looking forward to bringing everything I’ve learnt to my new class and making this coming year full of wonderful memories!
Outside of school, I love spending time with my family and friends, I dance and compete in competitions, enjoy getting lost in a good book, and going on holiday to relax and discover new places.
I am really excited to meet my new class, get to know you all, and work alongside such a fantastic team. Have a great summer!
Morning all,
All sports days will be going ahead today as planned for older nursery, Infants and Class 5a.
Many thanks
Mrs Beard-Robbins
Afternoon all,
It’s Rainbow Day in school on Friday. We will be celebrating diversity and equality.
We asked the children how they would like to celebrate and they have chosen to wear their own clothes to school, wearing as many bright colourful things as they can.
There’s no need to buy anything special or send in any money. We will just be showing our support for all kinds of people and highlight the importance of acceptance and kindness in our community.
Many thanks,
Mrs Beard-Robbins
