  • Updates

    Fri 29 Nov 2024

    Morning all,

I can’t believe that after this week we only have 3 weeks left in school!

Please remember that next week is the last week of after school clubs. There will be no clubs for the last 2 weeks of term due to all the Christmas activities.

There’s lots going on over the next few weeks - if you have any questions please let us know..

    Have a great Friday!

    Mrs Beard-Robbins

  • ESTYN Report Out Monday 25th November 2024

    Fri 22 Nov 2024

    Good morning all,

On Monday our ESTYN report will be published for all to see. it will be on the ESTYN website, but I will share it here too.

We are very proud of our school and our children and so we would like to celebrate with the children on Monday afternoon.

They can wear their own clothes to school on Monday. They can wear whatever they would like to celebrate in whether this be party clothes, their favourite outfit or anything they choose.

After lunch I will do a special assembly and share all the lovely comments with them from the report and then they will return to their classes for a little celebration. Staff will arrange some games, music and even dancing.

All the children can bring one extra drink and two small snacks for later in the afternoon.

I have visited all the classes today and talked to them about the snacks, stressing only 2 and talking about sensible ideas.

Here's some ideas that the children suggested:

Packet of crisps and a kit kat
A cupcake and a fruit bowl
Chicken fridge raiders and mini chocolate fingers
A small packet of Haribo and some quavers

We are all really looking forward to Monday!

    Kindest regards,

    Mrs Beard-Robbins

  • 'What's App' Age Restrictions

    Wed 20 Nov 2024

    Evening all,

Important for all children who have what’s app.

It appears that there are currently issues with children being added without their permission to what’s app groups that contain harmful and/or pornographic images. This seems to be happening across the local schools and wider area.

Please be extremely vigilant and talk to your children about this.

Can I remind you again, it’s for this reason children should not have such accounts.

The safest way to protect your child from this is to remove what’s app. It is an app for age 16+ users. There are other child friendly options they could use.

This evening a number of you have messaged me to let me know this has happened to Cwmcarn pupils.

    Many thanks,

    Mrs Beard-Robbins

  • Extending Our Special Resource Bases

    Fri 15 Nov 2024

    Good afternoon,

We have been working closely with the local authority to discuss further extending the capacity for our Special Resource Bases.
The extension to the current classes will make very little difference to your child as an unused classroom will be developed to support the children.

After extensive interview processes we have appointed Miss Clark to be the new class teacher for the SRB. In addition to this we have appointed Miss Courtney Lewis to be the teacher in Class 4 starting in January 2025.

Many of our pupils already know Miss Lewis as she has taught in a number of classes since our return to school in September. So she is a familiar face to all.

Please do not hesitate to contact the school with any further questions or queries.

Thank you for your continued support.

  • Flu Vaccination Clinics if Missed Visit

    Fri 15 Nov 2024

The School Nursing Immunisation Service recently visited the school to administer the nasal flu spray.

If your child did not receive their vaccine in school, it is not too late, we are holding regular catch-up clinics.

Parents/Guardians can turn up to any clinic with their child/children, no appointment is needed.

For a full list of clinics please visit: https://abuhb.nhs.wales/vaccinations/vaccination-pop-up-clinics/

The clinics are also available to any child/young person who is home-schooled or in alternative education provision.

If you would like to discuss the nasal flu vaccine or have any questions, please contact the School Nursing Service on 01633 431685.

  • Reminders for this week

    Mon 11 Nov 2024

    Good morning,

Here’s some reminders for you for this week:

Tuesday 2pm - Babies and Toddlers

Wednesday - all children asked to wear odd socks whilst we talk about bullying issues.

Thursday at 9.15 at school - a meeting for all 36 parents/carers who have had a letter from us about young carers.

Friday - children in need. All children can wear their own clothes if they make a little donation to the charity.

As Class 1 and 2 are going on a trip on Friday for which they need to wear uniform, they can wear their own clothes on Thursday.

    I hope this helps!

    Many thanks,

    Mrs Beard-Robbins
