  • Move Up Day Yesterday

    Fri 30 Jun 2023

    Good morning.

Our ‘Moving Up Day’ yesterday was a great success and the children enjoyed the many activities that hopefully helped to settle any ‘new class nerves’!

It is a change that happens at the end of every academic year. Whilst it is very exciting, it can also be a bit daunting.

Change can be difficult. Even some adults are overwhelmed by change. We appreciate that some of our learners may be finding the change of class and teacher, a bit tricky.

The teachers have considered the classes very carefully. We ask that you allow your child time to adjust and settle in their new classes before we would consider any changes.

Thank you for your continued support.

  • Huge Thanks

    Thu 29 Jun 2023

    Morning all,

I wanted to say a huge thanks to my staff who gave up their time to support the PTA disco last night and also to the PTA for their hard work in organising it.

Following the PJ day and the disco the PTA have raised over £500 and we still have our bouncy fun day left to go.

Thanks so much to all of you for supporting these events.

Another busy day in school today with move up day!

We wish our Y6 lots of luck too as they visit their new schools.

Only 3 weeks left of this term!

    Mrs Robbins

  • Help Needed - Wooden Teepee

    Wed 21 Jun 2023

We have a wooden teepee in our school garden. It’s perfect for hiding away from the hustle & bustle of the school day to read a book or relax.
We have some lovely giant cushions to go inside it.

However… the cats of Cwmcarn like to use it for their afternoon nap and as much as we love animals, we do not want them in our teepee.

Would anybody have some sensible, ingenious ideas for how we could make a simple door for the teepee to keep unwanted visitors out? Some suggestions have included a modified roller blind with hook lock at the base, or waterproof fabric.

If you have a good idea to share then please message me directly using dojo messages.

    Thank you,

    Mrs Seamons ☺️

  • September Class Arrangements

    Mon 19 Jun 2023

    Morning all,

I hope you had a lovely weekend.

On Thursday June 29th we will be having our moving up day in school.

The class arrangements for September are as follows:

Early Years ( Reception and Nursery) - Miss Pyle

    Y1 Class - Mrs Seamons

Y2 Class - New teacher to be appointed

Y3/4 - 3 mixed classes with either Mrs Lloyd, Miss Mansell or Mr Lewis

    Y5 - Miss Clark

    Y6 - Mr Regulski

Class 5 - SNRB Mrs Tomlins

Children moving into Y2 in September will spend the day with Mrs Moyle and will have chance to meet their new teacher once the interview process is complete.

Y6 will be visiting their new schools and the new schools should have sent you information about the day.

More dates will be shared over the coming weeks about parent/carer meetings for new nursery and reception intake.

    Many thanks,

    Mrs Robbins

  • Health and Fitness Fortnight

    Sun 18 Jun 2023

This week is the 2nd week of our Health & Fitness Fortnight.

Last week, the infants took part in their sports day and other fitness activities. The juniors started to explore healthy food and ways of keeping healthy, including physical and mental well-being!

This week we will be looking for ‘Healthiest Lunch Box’ for the children that bring packed lunch, and ‘Balanced Choices’ for our school dinners pupils.

Please remember that fresh fruit is available in school for a healthy snack, at just 20p per day (£1 for the week) or you can bring your own fruit to school.

Thank you for your support, as always!

    Mrs Seamons

  • Warm Weather

    Tue 13 Jun 2023

    Morning all,

It is going to be so very hot all the rest of this week so please make sure your children have lots of sun cream on, a bottle for water which can be easily refilled, a hat and also have had sun cream applied.

We are also happy for children to wear really basic uniform such as a school t shirt with some shorts, or their PE kit so that they can keep cool as possible.

Please be gently reminded we don’t allow flip flops but safe sandals with straps are fine.

Thankfully due to the age of our building it does stay quite cool inside.

    Many thanks,

    Mrs Robbins

  • Teacher Training Day - Monday 12th June

    Fri 09 Jun 2023

Afternoon all, just a reminder that Monday is a Teacher training day. We look forward to seeing the children on Tuesday. Many thanks.

  • Safety Reminders

    Thu 08 Jun 2023

    Good afternoon all,

Just some gentle reminders please following some complaints I have received today:

    1) Under no circumstances should cars pull up to drop children off or wait on the yellow zig zag lines. This applies to before and after school and breakfast club.

This morning when I was arriving at school just before 8.10 a number of parents had pulled in on the zig zag lines to let children out. I frequently see parents who are running late just stop in the middle of the road for children to get out. Even if it is inconvenient you must park safely and walk your children or watch them walk safely to school.

    2) If you decide to wait with your child before school starts, please do so on the pavement or yard. Please do not wait in the road or stand and chat in the road. It is unsafe and makes it difficult for our crossing lady.

    3) Finally, if your child does not come to breakfast club please remember we are not responsible for your children until 8.50.

Again this morning, at 8.40ish there were a large number of children who had been left unsupervised on yards.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

    Many thanks for your cooperation.

    Mrs Robbins
