  • Message From Mrs Robbins Regarding Teacher Gifts

    Thu 08 Jul 2021

    Morning all,

I’ve had quite a few messages from parents who would like to send in end of terms gifts for staff. That is so very thoughtful after this tricky year!

For anyone who wishes to do so please could that be done on Monday/Tuesday as they have to be left for 72 hours before staff can take them home.

    Thank you,

    Mrs Robbins

    Dear parents and carers,

I wanted to let you know that there is likely to be some media coverage linked to the school over the coming days, which relate to proceedings against a former Headteacher of Cwmcarn Primary.

You may recall that Mr Saunders left his role some time ago. He was dismissed after concerns were raised about his conduct. His case was considered at a hearing of the Education Workforce Council ( the education regulator) this week and the proceedings have been covered by the media.

I wanted to reassure the whole school community that the safety, welfare and well being of our pupils is paramount.

When these concerns initially came to light, the school leadership and the local authority acted swiftly and followed all appropriate procedures in response.

We will continue working in the best interests of our pupils as we move forward collectively to strengthen Cwmcarn Primary School’s place in the heart of our community.

    Kindest regards,

    Mrs Robbins

  • Message From Keri Cole, Director for Education in Caerphilly

    Tue 06 Jul 2021

    Morning all,

All schools have been asked to share the following message with you all from Keri Cole our Director for Education in Caerphilly:

COVID-19 – update for parents and carers

    Dear Parent,

You will no doubt have seen recent media reports about increasing numbers of positive coronavirus cases in schools across the area. It is clear that coronavirus has not gone away and remains a real risk to us all.

Firstly, I would like to thank all those who are doing their bit to control the spread of coronavirus in our community.

Self isolation plays a key role in reducing the spread and you will know that we must follow guidance and ask pupils to isolate for a period of 10 days if they are in affected ‘bubbles’.

We fully acknowledge that self isolation can be frustrating for young people, particularly for those who are not displaying symptoms, but it is imperative that we all follow these rules and isolate at home for a period of 10 days if asked to do so.

If we are to reduce the chances of further disruption to our pupils’ education, it is imperative that everybody follows this guidance closely

Please continue to monitor your child for symptoms of COVID-19:
    • A new continuous cough and/or
    • High temperature (37.8oC or above) and/or
    • Loss of, or change in, normal sense of taste or smell.
    • Headache, sore throat or runny nose.

Children displaying any of the above symptoms should not attend school. We would also wish to advise parents of the wider symptoms which the Delta variant can present, including; hay fever like symptoms; diarrhoea and/or an upset stomach.

We kindly request that parents are hyper-vigilant for any of these conditions and request that if your child presents with any they book a PCR test immediately.

    Thank you

  • Update From Mrs Robbins

    Fri 02 Jul 2021

    Morning all,

Can you believe we have now reached over £5000 in sponsorship money from our ‘ Race for Life’? This is amazing!!

Next week on Tuesday the teachers will message you and let you know whose class your child will be in next term and then on Friday reports will be sent home for you. We will be sending home double reports for those separated parents who require them.

Huge congratulations to Miss Lloyd who was successful after a lesson observation and interview with Governors and will officially join our team in September to teach Y3.

Today is the last day of isolation
for the staff, dinner ladies and children in Mrs Fraser’s class.

We are so looking forward to seeing you all on Monday.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend. It’s hard to believe that we are just two weeks away now from the end of term.

    Best wishes,

    Mrs Robbins
