Grant Planning 2023-2024

Pupil Deprivation Grant

The school receives a pupil deprivation grant which is related to the number of pupils in the school eligible for free school meals. The school currently has approximately 35% of pupils in this category. For the financial year 2020-2021 the school was awarded £69,000 for this grant.

The school undertakes the following activities in order to support pupils facing the challenges of poverty and deprivation:

  • Support staff within Foundation Phase to support teaching and learning
  • An attendance and well-being officer to support families and learners
  • Literacy and numeracy interventions in KS2 and FP
  • Additional IT equipment to support learning in school and learning at home

Recruit, recover and raise standards

During the financial year 2021-2022 schools will receive an additional grant to support the recovery following the substantial period of school closure. Cwmcarn Primary will received £16571. This funding will be used to employ an additional LSA to help our Y2 make the transition into Y3 and also to provide additional interventions for other learners in KS2 and FP.

The school's grant plans are scrutinised by the Governing Body, supported by advice from the EAS and monitored by the Local Authority.

Professional Learning Plan 2023-2024

As a school we are committed to professional learning for all our staff and are working towards our school becoming a learning community. We produce a professional learning plan that shows how we plan to spend the money we receive for professional learning.  All Professional Learning is logged by the Professional Learning Lead (Miss Pyle).  This is regularly reported to our Governing Body and the LA.
