  • New Menu Rota

    Tue 30 Jan 2024

After February half term the regular 3 weekly menu will be changing. Please see the new menu choices, as there are quite a few changes.
We’re sure the children will enjoy the new menus and hopefully we’ll see a few more children taking up the free lunch offer.

  • Incident Involving Police

    Mon 29 Jan 2024

    Morning all,

I have been informed by a parent that a report was made to the police yesterday regarding an incident that happened in a local park with an adult male exposing himself to children. I’m sharing so you can be cautious regarding your children over the next few days and perhaps talk to them about what they should do in any situation where they feel uncomfortable.

A few children have come into school this morning and also told us about the incident. I’m hoping all the parents/carers of these children also informed the police.

If I have any more information I will let you know.

    Many thanks,

    Mrs Robbins

  • Reminders

    Thu 25 Jan 2024

    Morning all,

It’s our final open classroom today at 2pm for Mr Regulski.

Final reminder for any parents who would like to attend the online workshop from 4-4.30 regarding help with ALN at home, in particular ASD to send their email address to myself or Mrs Tomlins. Those who have already sent it, you will receive your link later today.

Don’t forget it’s Newbridge Cluster INSET tomorrow so all schools are closed.

    Many thanks,

    Mrs Robbins

  • Please be mindful when collecting children at the end of the day

    Wed 24 Jan 2024

    Good morning all.

Please could we ask parents not to congregate at the main school gate until all of our Base children have left at the end of the school day. It is getting more difficult to get the children into their taxis safely, as more parents are gathering at the entrance.

Class 5 and 5a leave at 3 o’clock, 15 minutes before the rest of the school. This is to avoid crowds and ensure anxiety levels are kept to a minimum.

We are currently in the process of transitioning new children into the classes which will take us up to 16 children.

Some of our children are at flight risk, particularly if they become overwhelmed.

We ask parents kindly, please either stand on the opposite side of the road , further down the pavement or alternatively nearer to 3.15pm.

Thank you for your understanding on this matter.

    Mrs Tomlins

  • NSPCC Underpants Day

    Tue 23 Jan 2024

    Morning all,

Thank you so much to parents/carers in Miss Clark and Miss Mansell’s class. The turnout yesterday for open classroom was amazing and I heard so many lovely comments.

Today is Mrs Lloyd’s turn at 2pm.

It’s also NSPCC Underpants Day today so all the children will be learning about the underpants rule and that our private parts are private.

If you want to read more about this so you can also talk about it at home here is the link:

  • School Crossing Patrol

    Wed 17 Jan 2024

    Afternoon all,

I’ve had a few messages and calls about the crossing patrol.

Crossing patrol is the responsibility of Caerphilly and not the school. We don’t employ the staff or manage them.

However, I am concerned that the crossing patrol hasn’t been replaced yet and have already last week sent an email about this which I had a response to a few days ago.

Hopefully they will be appointing a new crossing lady soon.

If you have any further questions or concerns please direct them to the Road Safety Officers at Caerphilly Borough Council. They should be accessible via the main switchboard.

As a reminder only Y5/6 should be arriving at school and walking without an adult in any event. So younger children can be crossed by whoever brings them to school and collects them.

    Many thanks,

    Mrs Robbins

  • Lovely First Week Back

    Fri 12 Jan 2024

    Morning all,

We’ve had a lovely first week. Thank you so much as uniform has been excellent and everyone seems to be getting the hang of the new gate and entry/exit routines.

Don’t forget next week is stay and play for our youngest children. Due to the size of our classrooms only one parent/carer is permitted per child. If you are a separated family we suggest that whichever parent attended the last time, the other parent has a turn next week.

Here is a reminder for you:
    Tuesday 1pm - Nursery
Wednesday 9.15 - Reception with Miss Pyle
Thursday 9.15 - Mrs Seamons class
    Friday 9.15 - Miss Bliss

Any questions please dojo the teachers. Have a lovely weekend!

  • Back to School 2024

    Sun 07 Jan 2024

Morning all and a very ‘ Happy New Year’ to you all.

We start back to school tomorrow and are very much looking forward to seeing all the children for our next half term.

Reminder that Tuesday is a training day. Again - I can’t apologise enough, as you know I normally try to tag them to a weekend or holiday but the trainer doing our course on Tuesday, a course which is compulsory for us all legally, had limited days available.

I hope you all had a lovely Xmas and break. See you tomorrow.

    Mrs Robbins
