  • Age Restrictions for Social Media

    Thu 07 Mar 2024

Great post I’ve pinched from another school —

Many children nowadays are using social media when ‘officially’ they are too young to sign up to the sites.

Lots of them say that Mums/Dads/Carers have signed them up – sometimes years ago. There’s nothing illegal in that, but please keep in mind that if you signed your 8 year old up to Facebook five years ago, saying they were 13 years old – they now appear as an 18 year old on the site.

If an adult tries to groom your now 13 year old via social media, they will be able to argue that they thought they were talking to another adult. Remember to update their details, check their privacy settings, and talk to them about which pictures they use for their profile, so they’re safe online. Thank you.

    Wed 06 Mar 2024

    Morning all,

Just a reminder from me that it’s ‘ World Book Day’ tomorrow.

The children can either dress up if they would like to or wear their own comfy clothes for reading and bring in their favourite book from home.

    Thank you,

    Mrs Robbins

    Afternoon all,

Following on from the problems we’ve had this week in Y3/4 with use of mobiles and tablets one of our parents has recommended an app they use which really helps.

  • Message to Yr 4 Parents

    Mon 04 Mar 2024

    Morning,

For the attention of Y4 parents :

I’m sure you’ll appreciate it’s not really my job to solve the weekend’s problems 😊

There’s not enough hours in my day as it is - however it’s hard sometimes when weekend problems get brought into school and disrupt learning.

Can I please remind you that what’s app has a minimum age of 16.

Children in Y4 who do have their own mobiles need to be carefully monitored and only age appropriate apps used.

It might be worth having a little look at your child’s phone to check they are using them in an age appropriate way and that they are not becoming involved or drawn into online bullying or unpleasant messages.

Thank you for your support with this.

    Many thanks,

    Mrs Robbins

  • Week Ahead

    Mon 04 Mar 2024

    Morning all,

I hope you had a lovely weekend. There’s lots going on today!

Johnathan’s Jungle Roadshow is in school all day for our littler ones and Class 5 and 5a and also all the children who learn an instrument are going to a concert in Cardiff.
    How exciting!

Next week the older children will be having their trips to Sophia Gardens.

    Thank you,

    Mrs Robbins
