Staff are completing phone calls home again this week so please look out for a call from a withheld number.
Many Thanks
Mrs Robbins
Busy day at school today, the first of many health and safety meetings. First time in school for me in 11 weeks!
Could those of you who have been called about collecting your laptops and WiFi connectors do your best to be on time please.
There's a few who requested laptops but haven't been answering the phone to us. Myself, Mrs Reardon and Mrs Tomlins will attempt to deliver around lunchtime but it would be so much easier if you got in touch with us before 11am today.
Many Thanks
Message from Mrs Robbins;
I'm sure many of you will have seen the news that school will be re-opening on June 29th to all pupils for checks in and to catch up before September.
School will look very different during this time and we will not have any more than 1/3 of the school in the building at any one time. In reality most pupils will attend school one day a week. There will be different drop off and pick up times for each group of children. We are expecting further guidance next week from the Welsh Government.
I will be working with the staff, Governors and the Local Authority to plan this return to school, to make it as safe as possible for all involved.
You will also know that the minister has made it clear that there will be no fines or penalties for parents who choose not to send their children to school.
I would like to meet with my leadership team next week to sort the pupils into small groups as advised today.
Please could you help me by messaging your child's class teacher via ClassDojo, or via the school email, as to whether you plan to send your child back to school on June 29th for the catch up days or not.
It will be a more difficult job for us if we sort out the children's groups without knowing how many children to expect.
I will do my best to answer any questions you may have, with the information i have at the moment.
We have noticed that there are some parents who are not checking Class Dojo, so if those of you who are could let other parents know about this request to help us plan the return to school.
Many thanks for your help.
Yr 6 pupils transferring to Newbridge Comprehensive - the school has put some documents on their website today which should help the children as they prepare for transition.
The Head of Newbridge has asked us to share the link with you:

It might also be worth following them on Twitter.
If you have had a change in your financial situation due to Covid 19, you may now be eligible for free school meals.
For example, if you are self employed and unable to get any help from the government or if one parent works but they have been furloughed reducing their pay you may be eligible.
If you think you might be and would like to discuss this please drop Claire an email on cmcpa@caerphilly.gov.uk or contact myself through ClassDojo and I will pass your details onto Claire to give you a ring.
Thank you,
Mrs Robbins
Many of you have sent me messages asking if I have any idea when school will reopen. Kirsty Williams is the Education Minister for Wales and she has released the following video. It is short and worth watching. It makes it clear that whatever happens in England, schools in Wales will not be returning on June 1st as the Welsh Government do not think it bis safe to do so. It also warns us all about making sure we get our information from reliable sources. I hope you find it helpful.

Message from Mrs Robbins;
I have been asked, by the Local Authority, to try to estimate how many children in our school are currently not taking part in the learning activities because either they don't have a device such as a computer, pad or laptop or because they don't have internet at home.
I would guess that most of you accessing Dojo have some internet whether that be wifi or 3/4g through your phones.
Could you please email the school via this page or through Dojo if you have access, if you have no way of completing the work at home because either;
a) you have no laptop / computer / Chromebook or Ipad at home
b) you have no access to the internet
I think Caerphilly are starting to look at what can be done to help with this.
My staff will also make a list of any parents who have not accessed Dojo at all and we will add those to the numbers we send off.
Thanks for your help with this.
Mrs Robbins
