Morning all,
I hope you are having a lovely weekend. We were concerned about picks up and drops off, especially with our younger children. It just didn’t work well. Thanks to those of you who spoke with me about it on Friday.
With there now being two classes as the same time the lines were too long and spilling into the road. Therefore from Monday we will try a new system and see how it goes. Myself and my Deputy, Mrs Seamons, will be out on Monday to help and see how it works.
For all classes, except Mr Regulski and Miss Clark, the gates will be open 5 mins before start time and pick up time.
A parent or guardian will bring the child onto the yard and wait for the teacher to come onto the yard to collect the class. At the end of the day the teachers will also dismiss the children to the parent/guardian on the yard.
We hope this will be safer and work well.
On order for this to work please can I ask the following:
Only one adult to bring the children onto the yard.
Please wear a mask, unless you are exempt and do your best to use all the space available.
As soon as the teacher arrives in the morning to collect the children please leave the yard promptly. Similarly at the end of the day, please leave the yard as soon as you have your child/children.
No dogs are permitted on any school sites in Caerphilly unless guide dogs.
No smoking or vaping on site.
If you need to speak with the teacher please use dojo or make an appointment. During drop off/pick ups teachers need to focus on that and can’t do so if parents want lengthy conversations.
Please don’t worry if you have children to collect from separate yards at the same time. We will wait for you.
If you child is in Miss Clark/Mr Regulski’s class and they are not allowed to walk home could you please wait outside the gate until all the younger children have left the yard. One of the teachers will then call you into the yard to collect your child if you wish to do so.
Thanks all for your patience and cooperation with this.
Kindest regards,
Mrs Robbins
Reminder- Please remember to phone the school or message via dojo if your child is being collected by somebody else. Staff can only allow children to leave school with adults as previously agreed.
Mrs Seamons
Morning all,
There’s quite a few children not in school today. Please can you make sure you’ve messaged the teacher or rang the office so we can record the reason for the absence on the registers.
Thank you,
Mrs Robbins
Morning all,
I hope you have all had a lovely summer. We are looking forward to welcome our brilliant pupils back to school at the end of the week.
Most children start on Friday and the details are in the post below, if you scroll down.
Nursery and reception have been given a start date by their new teacher.
If you have any questions or are unsure about any arrangements there will be office staff able to answer your questions on Thursday afternoon so please give us a ring. All staff are undertaking training on Thursday morning.
Of course, you can also message the staff on dojo.
I look forward to seeing you all soon.
Kindest regards,
Mrs Robbins
Morning all,
I’ve had quite a few messages from parents who would like to send in end of terms gifts for staff. That is so very thoughtful after this tricky year!
For anyone who wishes to do so please could that be done on Monday/Tuesday as they have to be left for 72 hours before staff can take them home.
Thank you,
Mrs Robbins
Dear parents and carers,
I wanted to let you know that there is likely to be some media coverage linked to the school over the coming days, which relate to proceedings against a former Headteacher of Cwmcarn Primary.
You may recall that Mr Saunders left his role some time ago. He was dismissed after concerns were raised about his conduct. His case was considered at a hearing of the Education Workforce Council ( the education regulator) this week and the proceedings have been covered by the media.
I wanted to reassure the whole school community that the safety, welfare and well being of our pupils is paramount.
When these concerns initially came to light, the school leadership and the local authority acted swiftly and followed all appropriate procedures in response.
We will continue working in the best interests of our pupils as we move forward collectively to strengthen Cwmcarn Primary School’s place in the heart of our community.
Kindest regards,
Mrs Robbins
Morning all,
All schools have been asked to share the following message with you all from Keri Cole our Director for Education in Caerphilly:
COVID-19 – update for parents and carers
Dear Parent,
You will no doubt have seen recent media reports about increasing numbers of positive coronavirus cases in schools across the area. It is clear that coronavirus has not gone away and remains a real risk to us all.
Firstly, I would like to thank all those who are doing their bit to control the spread of coronavirus in our community.
Self isolation plays a key role in reducing the spread and you will know that we must follow guidance and ask pupils to isolate for a period of 10 days if they are in affected ‘bubbles’.
We fully acknowledge that self isolation can be frustrating for young people, particularly for those who are not displaying symptoms, but it is imperative that we all follow these rules and isolate at home for a period of 10 days if asked to do so.
If we are to reduce the chances of further disruption to our pupils’ education, it is imperative that everybody follows this guidance closely
Please continue to monitor your child for symptoms of COVID-19:
• A new continuous cough and/or
• High temperature (37.8oC or above) and/or
• Loss of, or change in, normal sense of taste or smell.
• Headache, sore throat or runny nose.
Children displaying any of the above symptoms should not attend school. We would also wish to advise parents of the wider symptoms which the Delta variant can present, including; hay fever like symptoms; diarrhoea and/or an upset stomach.
We kindly request that parents are hyper-vigilant for any of these conditions and request that if your child presents with any they book a PCR test immediately.
Thank you
Morning all,
Can you believe we have now reached over £5000 in sponsorship money from our ‘ Race for Life’? This is amazing!!
Next week on Tuesday the teachers will message you and let you know whose class your child will be in next term and then on Friday reports will be sent home for you. We will be sending home double reports for those separated parents who require them.
Huge congratulations to Miss Lloyd who was successful after a lesson observation and interview with Governors and will officially join our team in September to teach Y3.
Today is the last day of isolation
for the staff, dinner ladies and children in Mrs Fraser’s class.
We are so looking forward to seeing you all on Monday.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend. It’s hard to believe that we are just two weeks away now from the end of term.
Best wishes,
Mrs Robbins
