Afternoon all,
Whilst it has been hot today, we are lucky that our building is relatively cool and staff have done all they can to keep children cool.
I have personally checked all classrooms and they are not excessively hot.
Tomorrow is slightly lower temperature and a little more cloudy therefore I’m hoping all children will be back and I will not be authorising absence tomorrow.
Please send your children in with a drink, hat, sun cream and cool clothing.
Many thanks,
Mrs Robbins
Afternoon all,
I hope you are all having a lovely weekend. I just wanted to give you a quick update regarding the unprecedented hot weather due tomorrow.
School will be open as normal until we finish for the summer at 1.30 on Thursday. We are not closing.
However, as there are planned temperatures of up to 35 degrees on Monday I will be authorising absences of children where you are concerned about them being in school during this time. I will only be authorising this on Monday.
This maybe because your child finds the hot weather difficult, or maybe struggles with asthma or hay-fever or that you just have concerns for their well-being.
The absence will only be authorised if you let the school know and inform us that due to the hot weather you are concerned about your child being in school. These messages need to be sent to your child’s teacher or Mrs Reardon please, not to me.
We have already written to our most vulnerable children in our complex needs base and our nursery children. Extra care needs to be taken with our youngest children in extreme weather.
Of course, school will still be open and we will continue to provide regular drink breaks, encourage all children to wear hats, sunscreen and loose fitting clothing. We will also try to make the lessons more relaxed and allow the children, particularly over the lunch break, to have access to a cool classroom if they choose, as our yards lack shade.
Children will not be able to use the Astro-turf on Monday or Tuesday.
Many thanks for your support with this. If you have any questions please feel free to message me today and I will answer them later on.
Kindest regards,
Mrs Robbins
Good afternoon all,
For the first month or so of the new term in Sep I will be looking after another school as well as Cwmcarn.
I wanted to make it clear how much I love being Headteacher at Cwmcarn and so I’m not going anywhere! I feel very lucky to be Head of such a lovely school with amazing staff, learners and parents/carers.
It’s just that another local school has a new Head starting who is not able to start until sometime in October.
Therefore I will be supporting the other school until their new Head arrives. I will be at Cwmcarn for half of the week and the other school for half of the week.
I have a very strong leadership team here at Cwmcarn and on the days I’m at the other school, Mrs Seamons will be in charge. However I will only be 10 minutes away should I be needed.
I hope you will all join us as seeing this as a huge compliment to our school and the opportunity to support another school for a short time.
Kindest regards,
Mrs Robbins
Huge thank you to all the parents, teachers and staff for raising £348.52 for bouncy castle day.

Morning all,
Just to let you know, as I’ve had a few phone-calls, new term will start for children on Monday September 5th.
Reception and nursery start dates will be given by the staff at the meetings next week.
Also so that you have plenty of notice, I’m taking INSET days on December 22nd and December 23rd so the children will finish for Christmas on Wednesday 21st.
Can’t believe I’m messaging you about Christmas 🎅 🙈
Many thanks,
Mrs Robbins
Afternoon all,
This scorching weather is due to last all week so please can you make sure your children have lots of sun cream on and hats for playtimes.
We are happy for them to come to school in school T-shirts and shorts or even PE kit if it will help to keep them cool.
Can you please also make sure they all have a drink bottle so we can make sure they drink lots of water.
Thanks so much,
Mrs Robbins

Good morning all,
What a brilliant week we have had. We had 5 really successful sports days, all thoroughly enjoyed by your children!
Thank you so much for coming and supporting your children in such a positive way.
We are thrilled with how they went and actually all staff agreed that doing it just two classes together was far better. It gave the children more opportunities and less waiting round. It also made it easier for parents/carers to watch their children.
We have a brilliant community!
Thanks to all of my staff and PTA for all their hard work in organising the events.
Another exciting week ahead next week with move up day for all children up to Y5 on Monday, Class 5 trip to Barry, class assemblies for foundation phase classes and our Y6 will visit their new schools on Thursday.
Have a great weekend all.
Mrs Robbins
Morning all!
It’s Sports Day Week.
Some final reminders from me which your teachers will also share on your class pages:
Please ensure that your child is prepared for the sun and heat. Apply sun cream before school, provide a sun hat and a bottle of water.
Please could your child bring a piece of fruit to enjoy while we are on the field.
We are so excited to finally be able to have Sports Day again so please bring as many people as you like to enjoy the races.
Unfortunately, we cannot allow the children to come and see you or for you to come over to them for safeguarding reasons. We have a number of families with complex situations.
Any breaches of this may mean we have to stop Sports Day and bring the children back to school.
Please give them your best smiles and waves! Cheer them on from your side of the track 😃
Whatever happens, we will have fun and enjoy ourselves.
See you on race day!
Mrs Robbins 😊
