Mobile Phones
Can I please gently remind you that we do not allow children below Y4 to have mobile phones in school.
Even for children in Y5/6 if they are collected or walk home a small distance with friends there is no need for them to bring a phone.
In a very few cases where a child in Y5/6 walks home a longer way and is not met, we understand you may feel happier if they have a phone. In those cases the phone should be switched off and handed to their teacher until the end of the day.
If a child is found with their phone during the day they will no longer be allowed to bring a phone.
I was concerned last week when I was on the gate at the end of the day. I saw a number of our Y5/6 so preoccupied with their phones as they left they were not paying enough attention to where they were walking and the roads.
We thank you for your support with this matter.

The children have been so brilliant this week! We did our Fire drill on Wednesday and our Lockdown drill today.
Both went really smoothly - I’m very proud of them.

Good afternoon,
We have had a further update from the Police in relation to the incident with a stranger in a local Caerphilly School. We have been given very little other info at the moment. As soon as I know more, I will of course, pass it on.
The update is as follows from police:
Parents to collect children from school where possible this week.
In the event of an incident, children to call 999, get to a safe space and get registration of vehicle if possible from the safe space.
Many thanks,
Mrs Beard-Robbins
We have received information that there has very recently been a stranger approaching children at the end of the school day around a secondary school in Caerphilly. The police are aware of this and are working with the school and wider community. We will be reminding children in Cwmcarn about stranger danger, and staying safe on the way home and in the community, but could you please follow this up with reminders at home.

Morning all,
A reminder that Y5/6 can ride scooters to school if they wish and store them at school.
At the moment if any other children ride scooters parents/carers have to take them back home.
As soon as we can we will look to buy more storage for scooters so more children can store them on site.
Many thanks for your understanding,
Mrs Beard-Robbins
Please find attached the extra curricular clubs for the coming term. Some of the clubs are likely to change after Christmas to try to appeal to as many children as possible. Letters for the clubs will be coming home over the coming days, please make sure you return them as quickly as possible in readiness for the clubs to start next.
Morning all,
Please don’t forget our meet the teacher sessions today for Y1-Y6. The first one will will be at 3.25 then this will be repeated at 3.45.
They will take place in your child’s classroom.
Many thanks,
Mrs Beard-Robbins
For the attention of Y6 Parents/Carers
Good morning,
Just a reminder that you need to apply for your place in Comprehensive as soon as possible. Applications are now open and close at the end of October but the sooner you apply the better.
We will send home a flyer with the children very soon but you can apply using:
www.caerphilly.gov.uk/schooladmissions
Please don’t put this off as every year we have one or two who forget and then their chosen school, usually Newbridge, is full.
We can help if you find it difficult to fill out forms.
Many thanks,
Mrs Beard-Robbins
