  • Incident Outside School Update

    Tue 18 Feb 2025

    Afternoon all,

As per the previous post all staff and children are fine. The incident was only witnessed by Y5/6 pupils.

I was doing lunch yard duty today on Y5/6 yard when I heard a lot of swearing and shouting from across the road, a gentlemen then crossed the road towards the yard continued swearing and behaving in an intimidating way so I sent all of the children straight inside.

Unfortunately, some of the children heard some dreadful language/threats and some were a little frightened at being sent in so quickly with no explanation but I'm sure you will understand that your children's safety is my main priority.

Once the children were in we called 999 and police arrived and arrested the man.

I have since visited all Y5/6 classes and explained to them what happened and why I was shouting so loudly and firmly and reassured them about the events.

Again - thanks to my staff for their quick reactions in supporting me in dealing with the events. Y5/6 were superb and all did exactly as they were told straight away.

You might want to give your children chance to talk to you about it later and remind them how safe school is with our big fences, locked gates and all the adults here to keep them safe.

    Kindest regards,

    Mrs Beard-Robbins

    Wed 12 Feb 2025

Welcome to our newest additions at Cwmcarn Primary School.

Meet Fluffy & Rainbow. Our Guinea pigs, kindly given to us by one of our lovely families.

They are currently having time to settle into their new home and 5* accommodation. They are gradually getting to know us and getting used to the new surroundings, sights & sounds.

Once they are settled and confident, children will have opportunities to meet them. Please let us know of any pet allergies.

Please be reassured that the guinea pigs will be well loved and cared for having appropriate rest and quiet times.

  • Goodbye to Baby / Toddler Group

    Tue 11 Feb 2025

    Evening all,

I wanted to say a huge thank you to Jess and Robin who have been running our baby toddler group for a considerable time. Kate has helped too on many occasions. Sadly, due to low take up of late we won’t be continuing with the group.

We are hoping to run occasional baby/toddler sessions for special occasions like Easter, Christmas etc

A huge thank you to all of you ☺️☺️

    Primary Schools Choir Letter 2025.docx

    Word Document - 458KB

    Good morning everyone,

We have been contacted by the Caerphilly Music Service about an exciting opportunity for those within years 3-6, who have a talent for singing and would be interested in joining the Caerphilly Primary School Choir.

Attached is a letter which includes further details about this opportunity. Rehearsals will take place every Tuesday (during term time) from 4:00pm-5:00pm at Ysgol Gymraeg Penalltau in Hengoed and parents will need to transport their children to and from the venue on a weekly basis.

If your child is interested in joining this prestigious choir, then please scan the QR code within the letter to sign up and ensure that you are able to fully commit to transporting your child to and from the weekly sessions and possible future performances.

Please also let myself or Mrs Beard-Robbins know so we can stay updated as to who from our school is singing in the Caerphilly Primary School Choir.

    Best wishes
    Miss Needle

  • Please Park Safely around School

    Mon 10 Feb 2025

    Morning all,

Yet again I find myself having to remind parent/carers about unsafe parking around the school.

This morning a little boy was nearly hit.

Under no circumstances should anyone be parking or even stopping on the zig zag lines.

You are not even permitted to park on zig zag lines if you are a blue badge holder.

Can I take this opportunity to thank all those parents who do park safely. Many of you park a little further away and walk, even on a wet day like today and it is hugely appreciated.

The children’s safety is my main concern. I will be contacting the local police for more help with this matter.

    Many thanks,

    Mrs Beard-Robbins
