Afternoon all,
As per the previous post all staff and children are fine. The incident was only witnessed by Y5/6 pupils.
I was doing lunch yard duty today on Y5/6 yard when I heard a lot of swearing and shouting from across the road, a gentlemen then crossed the road towards the yard continued swearing and behaving in an intimidating way so I sent all of the children straight inside.
Unfortunately, some of the children heard some dreadful language/threats and some were a little frightened at being sent in so quickly with no explanation but I'm sure you will understand that your children's safety is my main priority.
Once the children were in we called 999 and police arrived and arrested the man.
I have since visited all Y5/6 classes and explained to them what happened and why I was shouting so loudly and firmly and reassured them about the events.
Again - thanks to my staff for their quick reactions in supporting me in dealing with the events. Y5/6 were superb and all did exactly as they were told straight away.
You might want to give your children chance to talk to you about it later and remind them how safe school is with our big fences, locked gates and all the adults here to keep them safe.
Kindest regards,
Mrs Beard-Robbins
