Useful Information

What should I do if my child is absent?

If your child is unwell please telephone the school as soon as possible. If your child has had sickness or diarrhoea, they may return to school when they are feeling well again. You will not need to ring again during this period.

If your child is unwell with an illness other than sickness or diarrhoea, for instance chicken pox or a more serious illness it is acceptable to ring and let us know on day 1 how many days you think the absence will last.

Please keep us informed as much as possible.

Read Write Inc.

At our school we use a scheme called 'Read Write Inc' for English and Literacy. It is a complete literacy programme for 4-7 year olds learning to read and write. It is also for 7-8 year olds needing to catch up quickly. If you want to find out more about this and how to support your children at home please visit the Read, Write, Inc parent website.

Read Write Inc. Literacy and Language

Read Write Inc. Literacy and Language is a complete literacy programme for fluent readers - children in Years 3 to Year 6 read, write and discuss texts with maturity. The programme is totally aligned to the new National Curriculum in a fun and meaningful way. The  majority of children in Key Stage 2 will be following this programme.

Cornerstones Curriculum

We currently use the 'Conerstones Curriculum' to deliver our topics.  The Cornerstones Skills Curriculum gives us the freedom to choose projects, lessons and skills that will engage children and teachers. It helps us find the right balance between local needs and the national requirements of the Welsh curriculum. The curriculum is built on a four-stage learning philosophy: Engage, Develop, Innovate, Express. Based on academic research and years of teaching experience, these 'cornerstones' are woven into every project and every activity. Used by real teachers in real classrooms with real children, they are proven to work.
