Mrs Painter - Y5/6

Congratulations Years 5 and 6! All your hard work paid off and both performances of Olivia! were outstanding!

The Year 6 concert was also amazing and a huge thank you must again go to Mrs Jenkins for creating so many memories on disc for the children; it takes a huge amount of time and effort to create such wonderful gifts and we are incredibly grateful for Mrs Jenkins' ICT skills!

A special thank you must also go to Year 6 for surprising Mrs Painter and Miss Vaughan with such a wonderfully thoughtful and unique gift, we were incredibly touched and will miss you all. Diolch yn fawr.

Morning! Hope you all had a lovely half term.

Class 9 will be continuing the topic of Roses and Royals to the end of this year. We still have much to learn about The Tudors and will also be working hard with our end of year production.

After Easter Class 9 will be exploring how the Tudors contributed to Welsh history as we know it.

What can you find out in preparation for our new topic? What would you like to find out?

Bring your ideas and findings to school next term and help us investigate!

Hola! Welcome to Class 9's Upbeat showcase. We'd like to share some photos with you.

Today we visited Cwmcarn Forest Drive and spent the day in the glorious sunshine, exploring and investigating habitats and mini beasts.

Take a look at our photos to see how much fun we had!

Coming soon to a classroom near you...

Mrs Painter's class have been working hard on Thursday afternoons to improve their work in Science with Mrs Robbins. They have learnt about renewable and non-renewable energy, conductors and insulators and more recently series and parallel circuits. All the pupils really enjoyed investigating the circuits and working out how to make a bulb brighter or dimmer by altering the circuit.

Investigating Circuits

Year Six went to Blackwood Rugby Club today to visit Crucial Crew and learn about different aspects of Health and Safety. Despite the description, this was an afternoon of fun and laughter; the staff there were amazing and the children had a great time - Check out the gallery for more photos!

We will be starting 2017 by exploring this unique Country, from its towering temples and stunning geography to its pulsing rhythms and fun packed festivals.

Visit us in January to see how bright and colourful 2017 will be for Class 9!

This week Class 9 - "Santa's Little Helpers"- has been designing snowman soup and reindeer dust. We have all been looking forward to making yummy. delicious hot chocolate. Come down to the Junior Hall  at quarter past three because we are raising money for Children in Need. Last year we made  £300, this year we are hoping we will raise even more. Please come on down and join the Christmas spirit!

Our topic this term is Stargazers. We will take on the greatest adventure that humankind has ever undertaken! We will navigate beyond the Sun, journey through space and investigate our Solar System! We will look at the moon, investigate the planets and work scientifically to investigate gravity. We are looking forward to exploring all aspects of Space. Are we alone...?

This month there are several opportunities to spot the International Space Station as they continue their epic journey of discovery from Space. Click on the link below to find out more:

Our topic this term is Pits and Ponies and we're loving every moment of it so far!

We have been to Big Bit in Blaenavon and listened carefully to the ex miners who shared their experiences with us, as well as travelling 90m deep into the mine to wander around underground - It was fascinating!

We also wandered through a simulation which recreated the sounds of the mines when they were working, they must have been incredibly noisy!

Please look through the photos of our trip below to see how much fun we had!
